Here is a follow up on the XOSL boot manger and lack of text mode interface. As you can see from the reply copied below, the author, Geurt Vos, will follow up on my text mode request. He is also in the process of redoing his website, and will keep accessibility issues in mind when so doing. As I said before I could not access his main site <http://www.xosl.org> due to some Java stuff there, but he does in fact offer a Java-free version, at <http://www.xosl.org/basic/> Only problem was, there is currently no "fall-back" link on the main page to take you to the java-free page. And, the /basic page use frames, although AFAIK there is a fall-back link for no-frames browser. But he is aware of all this and will improve things eventually:) Notice the link he offers to the German boot manager site. I had a quick look. Doesn't give much info, not in English at least, and table only lists commercial- or shareware. Btw: Table entries (headers) are in German, which I don't read very well. Here's what I will do: First I will create a nice XOSL bypass menu. It will only have the ability to boot one of the primary partitions. Some additional info can be easily printed out, e.g. volume labels. I will also add an option to switch to either mode (in Install and XOSL). Then I will see what and how I can achieve an easy to use text-mode 'version'. It should at least provide the same booting features. Finally, if you want to try some other boot managers, a good source is: In German: http://www.boot-manager.de In English: http://www.boot-manager.de/english The site is only paritially English, though. So I don't know how much good it is if you can't read it. I thought Vamos was a pretty decent text-mode boot manager. Though not free... ...and try to convince the guy of boot-manager.de to add XOSL... :) -Geurt- To unsubscribe from SURVPC send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe SURVPC in the body of the message.
