There is an excellent dos spreadsheet around. It is shareware but not
disabled in any way (but you get no product support)

I have been using it for two years now and am quite happy with it. It is
called As Easy As Spreadsheet. There is a version for dos which I have and
a 32 bit version for Win 9X. I think Trius also still makes Alite, a
stripped down spreadsheet tjat can be run as a TSR.
