The five worst power-supply related things you can to to a device, in
order, are:
1) Supply a voltage that is much too high.
2) Supply a voltage that is a little too low.
3) Supply AC where DC is required.
4) Supply DC in the wrong polarity.
5) Supply a voltage that is a little too high.

If you supplied the wrong polarity it wouldn't work at all, so we're
looking at #2. Not time to panic yet, but don't use the inkjet supply
anymore-- you'll lose the backpack's regulator.

If it sort of works with the inkjet cord, but not with its' own- sorry,
but you DID blow the regulator. Still not time to panic. I can walk you
through this off-list; that way you won't even have to pay shipping. If
it's using what I think it is, the part costs about three USD.
