Not quite. EMM386.EXE provides Expanded Memory (EMS), while most apps and
machines use eXtended Memory (XMS) now. EMS was limited by the 64Kb page
frame, and there was an upper limit on amount of memory IIRC. XMS allows
flat memory access above 1Mb, up to the 4Gb architectural limit.

As it's an industry standard and well documented, DRI certainly have a
working implementation of it.
