Not a heck of a lot. That length of cable is *WAY* out of spec for
standard RS-232 to deal with, especially if it's unshielded cable.
However, there are "signal boosters" devices that are available from
companies like "Black Box", which can use a short serial cable
from your computer, to a box, to this cable, to another signal-
booster box, to the device on the far end. These devices don't use
RS-232 on the link in between, but can be quite handy.
