According to my reference book, it sounds even worse:
3 beeps for AMIBIOS means either base 64 RAM or CMOS RAM failed.

Sorry about that.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Base 64 KB of memory is only a problem if it's soldered to the board. Swap
known good RAM (of the appropriate type) to bank 0. First two SIMMS
should be the same type and manufacturer (if possible).
Check your CMOS battery - that could be what's wrong with your NVRAM
(Non-Volatile Random Access Memory). If it's the IC, CMOS RAM is pretty
standard - just get the right size & type. (Use a small screwdriver to
remove the chip from socket by CAREFULLY prying up first one end and then
the other a bit at a time. (You usually only get about 1-1/2 bends out of
the legs on an IC :-( )
Worst case: parity-checking circuit on the motherboard is fried - but
this is the least likely by far. (You DID remember to ground yourself on
the shiny metal of the power supply BEFORE touching anything inside the box,
didn't you?)
