The AMIGA 500 was one of the first (and probably the one that got the most
users). Still you can use that same HD in a 500 AFAIK.

The AMIGA has diffrent pins/voltage (or something) that makes using a
parallel cable between a PC and an AMIGA a "no-no" unless you build it
yourself (or so 2 of 4 sources have told me).

Why not use a null-modem cable? I've got one of those for my setup. The
program I then use to transfer files is called Twin Express (twin for
short) and its' very good since both the computers can act as server. If
you are interested please don't hesitate to ask about it and I'll send it.
(You can also search on AmiNet for it).
