Hi. :)

Just came back yesturday from my very first hacker convention. Thought
that I
should mention it here, since frankly I got no where else to say that.
:)

Was very intresting, though there were several crackers over there that
kept
bragging about nonsense they did (like netsplits on DalNet. Really hate
them.),
there were also many serious, normal programmers. Captain Crunch was
also there.
(He had a powerbook laptop. Which looked really, really good.)

There was also a SurvPC gallery, that had an old catridge atari, a
Commodor 64
with a barly functioning joystick, that had a Pentium 3 computer near it
that
ran a Commodor 64 emulator :)
Also there was a 1984 Mac (dead, unfortunatly), Mac Plus, dead Apple
II/e,
an Apple 3, and.. a Lisa! (which wasnt hooked up.).

There was also a very weird Zenith computer system.. generally, it was a
really
big and heavy box, with colored bottuns on it, an old screen, and a
keyboard
that looked like a concrete block. Spooki. (There was a 1/8 inch disk
drive
over there. Was made from a really heavy metal material. Looked like its
going
to crash trough the table and make a hole in it any moment.).
Also there was a strange Network Computer prototype that apple have once
tried
to make. SOmething called "@home" or something. Well, it was with an "@"
for
sure. It was almost fully functional except for the touch-pad. It was
very
rare because very few of these things were made. SurvPC collectors kept
being around it for some reason. :)

And last, there was some sort of a semi-functioning weird terminal that
nobody
could identify.

Also there were about 9 P3 computers running Red Hat 6.1 that were there
either fom internet browsing, or experiencing linux. There was also a
Linux
Security Deathmatch. Basicly, in the orginisers room there were several
computers
running Linux. Anyone that could use any of the 9 linux computers
availble
to crack the secured computers, would get a palm-pilot. :)
Anyone who would have used a silly thing like DoS and sort would only
get
a shirt: "I am a script-kiddie.". :)

There was also a news crew from the german SAT 1 channel, that for some
reason
kept being whereever I was. Kind of spooky. At one part I just wanted to
use
Netscape on one of the Linux computers, but the network was down. So
while
I was waiting for it to return, they asked me to "do something". I said,
that i'm not really a good programmer and that i'm just waiting for the
network to come back. But they said "well, just type something". So they
kept
taking pictures of me changing directories, ls, pico, and vi. Someone
was
bored here. Later on they also took pictures of me and 2 others trying
to
get the network back ourselves. (which was kinda unsuccessful,
concidering
that only 1 was a real linux expert, with the other 2 being avarage
trying
to write down everything he did.). So you might see me on SAT 1 if you
get
to see the article about the Hacker convention. :)
