Dear Constant,

If they truly are Microsoft PowerPoint files, then you can get a viewer at
the following location. It will allow you to view and print the presentation.
However, it is only for Win 9x / NT / 2000 systems.

This brings up one of my pet peeves with the PC. So much of it's easy
functioning is dependant upon an easily-changable .XXX extension to
the file name. The Macintosh seems to be a little better about this, in
that each file has a type assigned in its Resource fork, where it's
difficult to change.

I think that the "next OS" should incorporate this feature, that file types
are embedded in the start of the file, as part of it's data stream. I would
certainly accept that the type could be also recorded in the directory
entries, like the Mac does into its Desktop file, for quick-and-easy
access by the OS. But it could be re-read from the file, as needed.
