Hi Dos heads and Survpc fans:
I am afraid that this is the true state of affairs in the used computer
market. When I purchased my new computer a few months ago, I tried to sell
off my 133 mhz machine: No takers. So then I tried to give it away. I put
up a sign at work to that effect. No takers. It seems that the people who
want a computer but don't yet have one are holding out for a new machine.
But what about the people who want a computer but can't afford one? They
are the people who don't want to learn enough about computers to fully
utilize an older machine. These are the people who refuse to learn any
simple Dos commands because it is "too hard" I know; I've tried to teach
some of them. If they can't plug it in and point and click there way
around, they are lost. Anyway, they don't want an older machine even if it
is free.
As for me, I'm working with Win98 now <GASP!> But one thing is true:
my knowledge of Dos commands and how computers really work has made life a
lot less painful with Win98. I still run lots of batch files and dos apps.
A lot of people have looked over my shoulder and said "I didn't know you
could do that with Dos!"
Rj
Who is General Protection Fault and why does he shut down my computer?
