My Western Digital 6.4GB came with software that allowed
copying an image of the existing drive to the new drive.
The software won't copy all types of file systems but does
dos/windows file systems OK.
The procedure was to install the new drive as a slave or on it's
own controller port. Enter setup and configure the bios
settings for the drive and then boot their install disk and follow
the prompts.
I had never installed a hard drive and I managed to install,
partition and copy the old drive to the new with included
software and docs. When I was finished, I pulled the old drive
and made the new drive the first HD and that was it.
