Well here's REAL Surv-pre-PC question for you: Was any sort of
communications software ever done for PET? I've got the old 2000 in the
closet. I've got enough info to probably figure out how to get it talking
serial, though slowly. I'd LOVE to hook it up to my Linux box doing network
monitoring at work and let it pretend it's running the whole show.
-------------------------------------------
I have seen a Commodore 64 with a 1200 BAUD external modem surfing the
Internet - and heard of a Vic-20, as well. Try a PET users' group (TPUG
here in Toronto). If you can get it to do serial communications faster than
you can type <bg>, and hook it up as a remote (or diagnostic) terminal, there
is no need to pretend it's running the whole show - it CAN!
I'd love to see the look on some Java-jockey's face when you complain to him
that you are having trouble with the animated pop-up banner ads on his
web-page - and could he fix it for you?
