I won't bother with arguing anything about guns. I grew up with guns.
By the time I was 9 I was using a gun to hunt to put food on the table.
I've used a gun to stop other human beings from shooting me & my
brother [fired over their heads intentionally, and they decided their bb
guns weren't going to win against *my* .22] and yes, bb guns can maime
and kill.

Suing a gun manufacturer for a death from the use of a gun, or for
medical payments, or reimbursement for services rendered because one of
their guns was used ... that makes about as much sense as suing Ford
Motor Company because the guys who last night robbed the convenience
store cum gas station, where he works, drove off in a Pinto.

BTW, if anyone particularly gives a damn for the facts: More people are
killed by cars each year in this country than are killed by guns and
knives combined; more people are killed as the result of drinking than
come down with cancer or asthma from any causitive agent; alcohol,
despite all the bad press for nicotine, remains the number one addictive
drug, the number one drug abused, in this country.

Why don't we start suing the Jack Daniels brewery or the vintners for
all the harm done by people using 'dutch courage?'

Facts have never had a damn thing to do with what people think or do in
this country. Less than 20% of the population was involved in ANY way
shape or form in the 'American Revolution'; popular participation has
been on a downslide since then. From the git-go it has been easier for
people to find a convenient target and place blame there -- far easier
to point a finger than to solve the underlying problems that make people
believe it's personally acceptable to beat a child, rob a store, shoot a
cop, or burn a school.

There ARE *NO* quick cures! And nothing will get better until people
stop wasting time, effort, and other limited resources searching for
them.

The sermon is ended. Go in peace.
