Well, I think there should be room for a little teasing, etc. Working with
computers can become a little drudgery, especially for those of us who are computer
professionals at our day gigs. Some of us have been in the business for so long
that we have to have a little fun occasionally. A lot of teasing goes on at work,
too, between the programming departments, to relieve some of the tension and
frustration of trying to get the different OS's, applications, and systems to work
together correctly. If we didn't, we'd be at each others' throats constantly.

Sometimes, on mailing lists, people come across as a little pedantic, or
condescending, but I know that it's usually unintentional, and the result of the
unnatural act of writing something well enough to be understood. If you try to
write something well, it can often come across as a little condescending and
pedantic. Talking is a real world model. Writing is not, therefore it's a little
unnatural feeling, whether you're writing a casual note, or technical document.
Programming computers is not a real world model, either, by the way.

I would echo the sentiments of the lister who said that people are spending more
time on outdoors activities, and vacations, etc., right now. Also, there were
those delays for the posts to show up in the digest, which may have made some
people believe that the list was dead.
