Very welcome, Ioannis Panteleon ! Indeed a kind and keen observation of
the scenery - perhaps you seized the (rather unoutspoken, simmering)
idea of the crowd here to make the best of all (OS-)worlds and, even
more important, to demonstrate the *use value* of ("appropriate"; or
simply, existing) technology. Which is in fact in stark contrast to
prevailing mareting hypes - and thus in line with the very core of
interests of the list here. Never mind occasional flame wars <g>, as
even these use to transport lots of really useful information, here.
(The wars of believers happen elsewhere, people here believe more in
make things work.)
