Hey Ron!

Hmm, I dunno, but it looks to me like your best bet is to find
a friend with a Win9X machine with Word97 or higher installed. Then, ask
them if they would mind very much if you had them or if they let you view
the document with their machine. Then convert that thing to maybe RTF (rich
text format)or if possible to plain ASCII text. Word97 and higher produce
much bulkier (bloated) documents than the predecessors, and so far I've been
unable to view a document created with these versions in DOS. Hehe, I even
tried using the old Word 5.5 for DOS, while it did open part of a document,
the formatting information is at the front of the documents (tells Word97
etc. what font to use, DLLs, etc) and finally finding the actual text of the
document took a while. Your file being 2.2 mbytes may contain not only
format information, but quite possibly graphics files (BMPs). Sorry not
much more help. The problem is going to be transfer of this size file...a
lot of email systems don't allow files over 1 mbyte...may need to use a file
splitter tool and split it into 2 pieces, then copy each piece to a
diskette, then head for your Win9X friend! I'd also recommend buying this
friend the cold beverage of choice for use of the machine, but that's just
my opinion...hehe!
