Hi listers

Thank you all for responding to FDD SUDDENLY GONE BAD! in particular
Alessio. I got the pic eventually but it was not very clear but I did see
where the sensor was. I also went to the site using the url on the pic but
it was all in Italian, sorry.

As a matter of fact there are two sensors. These sensors are sort of
plastic pins potruding towards the holes found in floppy disks. The pins
are mounted on a fixed base and the pins slide in if you press them and out
if release the pressure. There are two sensors located in opposite sides of
the floppy drives. One sensor, I believe, senses write protection and
another senses whether the floppy is HD or not.

In my case there two pins sensing the HD diskette. One of the pin is
slightly misaligned and I believe is the one causing this problem. I do not
have the confidence of opening the case but I managed to touch it with a
pointer and shook it a little. When I inserted a diskette, the computer
responded with you floppy is not formatted. When I tried to format it the
computer failed completely. Therefore to me the only remaining solution is
rip it off and put in a new one.

Regards.
