There's also these for DOS:
SetEdit (an editor with built in MP3 player), OpenCP
IIRC these are some of the addreses:
DOSAMP: http://www.nullsoft.com/dosamp.zip
DAMP: http://www.damp-mp3.co.uk/
OpenCP: http://www.cubic.org/ (new version out not that long ago - 2.60pre4)
However since WinPlay was made by the people that more or less invented
MP3s I really think it's the fastest one. I still can't understand why some
of you needed to lower the quality when using it.
Another important thing I remember is that you should try and get files
with 112 as bitrate instead of 128 (112 is the default IIRC from L3Enc
until you register - made by the same people). There was a noticably
ability in running other programs (mostly Netscape 3.x) at the same time as
I played MP3s. However I never experienced any problems (although I only
had files up to 192 at the time) if all the computer was doing was playing
a MP3. A friend suggested that it might be the cache that differs - I had
128KB on mine, and I remember my SX-25 with that ammount was much faster
when playing games then a friends (8KB IIRC).
