I agree on that, not only does it do all you stated, but it also may, if it
DOES reach the spammer, move your email onto a "confirmed" list which is
worth more money for them to sell on their cd bundles.
For quite some time (till I got lazy) I was handling spam with a two edged
approached. I used a cute little freeware w9x prog called "spam bouncer"
which generated an artificial bounce message, making the address look
dead. Then I sent a copy of the letter with full headers to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
where the isp is what I sleuthed from the headers. Unfortunately, a very
large amount of spam is now sent via russian and other distant countries
with isps that don't care about laws and courtesy and market this as their
main business.
When you encounter, for instance, @*.ru it's generally pointless and just
delete the crap.
