but seriously, ebooks come in a lovely format, a device about the size of a
book which holds many books,

Some libraries are already carrying them and you can borrow the electronic
device or if you already have one, use it to borrow the ebook from the
library. The ebook you download is only available if another borrow isn't
using it, the library will have a set number of copies, and when you borrow
it, it will vanish from your ebook device when the borrowing period is due.
Given that a large percentage of our old growth clearcutting is for
producing paper, this is a good thing.
Now, how do we wean people off their newspapers and flyers?
