A lot of folks will tell you to junk it but I know what it is to accept the
challenge of raising the dead - The question is "Are you willing to do what
must be done?"
I found an old motorcycle in a creek. It had been abandoned there years
earlier and had begun to corrode away. I pulled the engine from it and
after disassembling EVERY part and replacing EVERY unfit component with new
or reconditioned ones I had a nice little engine that went into first a
go-cart and later into another motorcycle.
You'll have to do the same thing-
Remove all the components and recondition or replace each and every one.
Corrosion gets into EVERTHING. Assume all connections, all components are
corroded. If it comes apart - take it apart. Clean it and check it's
function. Then reassemble one component at a time checking the function as
you go. Replace what doesn't work. In the end you might have something that
works and more importantly (if you are like me and the motorcycle engine)
you'll have some fun along the way.
