Dear Jorge,
Well, the only thing I can think of is that the designers of that
motherboard decided to give themselves an 'out'. I'm going to
guess that, during the design process, the programmers of the
BIOS had not yet finished by the time the motherboard design was
well advanced. So, they left themselves the option of using a larger
ROM.
Benefits to you? None, really, unless you want to program your
own BIOS, and need more than 16KB to do it in. :)
