You might want to look at the GEHR (Good Electronic Health Record)
project for which I am the technical leader, at http://www.gehr.org.
This is an open source development, funded by the Australian
government, and the software deliverables are designed to be useable
in any country - it is not specifically Australian. We hope in fact
that this new approach, which we think will leap-frog other existing
approaches in the area, will be adopted
by developing countries. There are already development groups
experimenting with GEHR in BRazil, Italy, Romania, as well as most of
western Europe, and more recently, the US. We think India will also
be
interested.
