The setup program looks for .PR$ and may be some additional .DA$ in the subdirectory PRINT2. You may specify another directory, but it must obviously be a subdirectory of the directory where setup.exe is running. I did not need to install any printer driver when I upgraded from Word 5.0 to Word 6.0, because - the old drivers incl. those I edited for my own configuration where fully compatible - the latest drivers will not be found neither in the Word 5.5 nor in the Word 6.0 release but rather on some utility disks coming with the printers. I customized a laser jet driver provided from HP that contained internal proportional fonts for CP437 for use of central east european fonts CP852. >I do not have MAKEPRD.EXE. I took it from the (US american?) version of Word 5.0. So you can not have it. With a printer manual you can change almost everything. But you have to guess the syntax of the readable files. And probably also to use some hand made utilities of your own (I do not recommend to edit the huge proportional tables manually). There is another utility mergeprd.exe coming with Word 5.5 and Word 6.0. I cannot recall what it is good for. I have never used that, but I am sure there is some information in one of the .DOC files.
