The cheapest is not necessarily the smallest. right now
1.2gig drives are out there for 25$
I've seen pentium pro motherboards for 20$ while I can still
find 386sx for 89$. go figure.

The cheapest out there is not the oldest and most obsolte,
but the most common, which is late model VLB 486 and the
early ATX 586-II class, which however needs the ATX power
supply and a milk crate for a case. There are AT/ATX
motherboards for 30-40$ which will use either the AT or the
ATX power supply, and handle 586 class from 166 to 350mhz
or even 500mhz.
uncopywritten- do what you will with it.
