Many text-based mail clients have an ``include attachment'' options that
will MIME enclode a file, and insert it in a mail message as an attachment,
together with appropriate MIME multi-part headers in the message (e.g.,
pine, yarn, etc.).

Every one that I know of, always specifies that MIME type of the attachment
as ``octet stream'' -- even if the file is, specifically a gif image,
an MS word or html file, etc. Windows based mailers seem more intelligent
and can specify the file type more clearly, eather in the filename (file, gif,
file.doc, etc.) or in the MIME type.

Does anyone know of an external dos program that lets a user insert a MIME
file type of the user's choice? That is, if you want to attach an MS
word program or a tiff image -- the program will insert the appropriate
MIME multi-part header lines in your mail message?

I know there are external programs that encode files for mailing
(e.g., uuencode). But none of them I know if also insert MIME
headers in the message.

Thanks in advance.
