Your message is being returned to you unprocessed because it appears to have
already been distributed to the SURVPC list. That is, a message with identical
text (but possibly with different mail headers) has been posted to the list
recently, either by you or by someone else. If you have a good reason to resend
this message to the list (for instance because you have been notified of a
hardware failure with loss of data), please alter the text of the message in
some way and resend it to the list. Note that altering the "Subject:" line or
adding blank lines at the top or bottom of the message is not sufficient; you
should instead add a sentence or two at the top explaining why you are
resending the message, so that the other subscribers understand why they are
getting two copies of the same message.

In theory, no way. It goes by days, not by usage. Now, Office XP (and
Office2k after SP1)gives you 40x before you have to activate and in
theory, you could just keep all of Office XP up all the time and never
activate (but who would and can??) But WinXP goes off the system
clock/calendar from what I can see. (My system runs 24/7) And yes, the
process doesn't take long to activate it by phone, but it does become a
hassle when you legitimately reinstall repeatedly ( I do a lot of Beta
testing, etc.)! I still think this Activation is going to come back and
sting MS in the long run.
BTW, if you are getting a copy of WinXP that doesn't have activation it
must be a very early beta and probably not worth the bother. There have
been numerous changes between Beta 1 and 2 and then between Beta 2 and
RC1 are pretty substantial. Even Beta 2 is a very limited product. If
you want to test or sneak a peek, then fork over $20 to MS and have them
mail you a CD of RC1. Only then will you get an accurate picture of what
WinXP will be like. The betas lack so many drivers and application
compatability. (and whatever you do, do a clean install! Don't "upgrade"
even from Win2k!)
And while you at it. Download and burn for free or pick up a copy of
Linux Mandrake 8.0 for $40 and play with that for a while! (I've also
used SuSE 6-7.1, RH 7.1, Corel, etc., but Mandrake beats them hands down)
Have fun!
