Thanks, Constant - this zipped version of SDTET indeed unfolded, and worked; i.e., it ran and told me there's no soundcard on the system... ;( I suspect it simply doesn't "see" PCI cards and just looks for ISA slots and cards there. Question of time perhaps - the proggy has the datestamp of 1996 when soundcards still where mostly for the ISA bus. Eko himself - great HALLO !!! to see him back on "his" list !!! - pointed to another problem, the (bus) speed of later machines. A third restriction may be that it knows evidently only about a small number of soundcard (makes), Adlib, SB and "Windows sound system" (whatever that means). Thus sure it wouldn't recognize the Yamaha card in the Toshiba laptop (but it didn't see the SB Live in another box). Nevertheless, I'll try to save the prog from oblivion and put it into the archives in the download space at my wwwplace. Precisely for earlier SurvPCs (and soundcards) it's a valuable tool. // Heimo Claasen // <hammer at revobild dot net> // Brussels 2001-08-16 The WebPlace of ReRead - and much to read ==> http://www.revobild.net To unsubscribe from SURVPC send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe SURVPC in the body of the message.
