You must have had a 360kb drive on the computer not a 1.2mb drive. That would explain the inability to read 1.2mb disks. Now if you do a normal format with that drive on a 1.2mb diskette and it formats 1.2mb on the diskette, then it's probably a 1.2mb disk drive with misaligned heads.
