Howard,

The computer I am using right now to compose and send this message
is a Toshiba Satelite Pro 400 CDT. It is a 75 Mhz Pentium laptop.
My modem is an old USR 14400 external having a connector for a 25
pin serial cable. My Toshiba laptop has a 9 pin serial port. I
bought a special serial cable for about $10.00. It has a 25 pin
connector on one end and a 9 pin connector on the other. If you
are reading this, then you know that my equipment works. It works
with no problem whatsoever.

BTW, you might be interested in knowing that this particular modem
works with EPPPD, but not with LSPPP. It works with EPPPD when
hooked up to PC desktop computer also. It will not work with LSPPP.
I have an internal 33.6 USR modem installed on a desktop that
works with LSPPP.

Regards,

Sam Heywood
