-As a denizen of the almost frozen north i must take exception to this
stereotype.

Actually the north - both the tiage and the tundra was a hunter's
paradise.  Big game, super large herds, and a climate that excluded
outsiders not used to coping.  Even now living here is super easy....if
you know how.  Game abounds....moose, deer and bear come thru my back
yard on occassional sojourns from the nearby bush.
