I had put redhat 7.0 on another system I have. Unfortunately portmap server
turned on and I didn't know how to turn it off. Some script kitty put
linsniffer on my system so I've been in contact with my i.s.p.'s to change
passwords. this sniffer goes after user names and passwords. If you do a
search for it on the internet using google, you'll find a site called
attrition.org. That site has an 8 page article on the sniffer. Read up and
make sure that portmap server is turned off along with as many other servers
as you can manage. My server kept on coming up with an error 111 and I've
reinstalled the system. Unfortunately now the system appears not to be able
to copy anything off of floppies without i/o errors so I may end up trashing
the system and letting the dumpster have it.
