About this Gibson guy: The trouble with insight and understanding that goes beyond normal comprehension is that it can be hard to communicate it effectively to those whose perceptions don't take them to that understanding. It can be even harder when those who need this knowledge don't want it to be true.
Over the years I've watched people of mediocre ability do their best to denigrate people of exceptional skill, talent, strength, wisdom, and insight. I've watched people who have never written a book criticize a person with 200 published titles. And I've watched people who don't (can't?) program throw rocks at those who do. Steve Gibson is exceptional. He is phenomenally gifted in the field of logic and reasoning. I know of only a handful of programmers that can do what he does and has done (writes Windows software in Assembly Language, for crying out loud, do you comprehend what that takes?). He sees things that not all of us do, and I won't pretend that I track everything he says. But the guy is a mechanic, an engineer with a greater understanding of what really goes on in the life of an electron (and the social problems that confront the average photon) than the average genius. He has a grasp of the subject that can be compared with that which a chess grandmaster has of the game: he sees many moves ahead, and sees possibilities that go way beyond the average player's ability to see. Whatever you think of his personality and his writing style, it would be a good idea to at least TRY to get what he's saying. The press may not think highly of him, but he has earned the respect of his peers. For my money, the expert is the guy who can do. You can listen to those who *criticize* or you can listen to those who *do* -- Steve is a doer.
