I have noticed a lot of survpc is going from a small
flame into a towering INFERNO against Microsoft!!!
While I know linux (whatever distro) is also a great
OS, there are faults that I have experienced from it,
that I haven't experienced with the NEWEST AND BEST,
Windows XP (My windows XP systems has never "Blue-
screened, and it is the BETA version!). Also there
are some things that windows can do that linux just
can't do!
1. Windows is probably the only platform that will
run your favorite 3D games, like Quake III and Delta
Force, Linux just isn't compatible (I for one am a
strong game player).
2. I have run Linux, and it has crashed more often
than windows '95 on my laptop! and the crashes are
even harder to understand!("Linuxconf has caused an
exception at address: exxxxxx-xxxxx:0000")
3. Linux is only good for users with a LOTTA knowledge
of the command line interface, and it is a nightmare
just to see if you can get "X" to run, if you can
get it to run! It also requires a lot of tweaking from
the start, and newbies would rather prefer windows,
which doesn't have a lot of /etc /var files to edit!
4. Just try and get linux to gain access to your USB (or
firewire ports)!
5. How do you expect linux to work with your Pocket PC???
they are only compatible with (guess what?) Windows!
I liked survpc a whole lot better when I first joined, and
liked discussing PC matters with you people, whom I thought
understood that OLD PC's could still have a use in the market...
BUT now all you talk about is hating Microsoft (You call the
CEO "BillyGoat," "BillyGoes" It's BILL GATES DANGIT!!! and
It isn't Windblows, or Windoze, whatever that means, it is
WINDOWS!!!) I know that linux will tower above certain OS's
but Windows is a whole lot easier to learn and use, and it
is HERE TO STAY!!! Since putting XP on network PC's as low
as a Pentium 133, (which, by the way is my SERVER) I have hardly
any problems that I have experienced with Windows '95-ME,
before you complain about something that you haven't even
used, GIVE IT A TRY!!! (I noticed some of you already have...)
