I'll try that idea to look into the SLIP thing, Steve. Sides of the Linuy box this wouldn't be a problem (I suppose that the 2.4.8-kernel installed is sufficient) but what I wanted to avoid is a high permanent "socket" of (low) memory eaten away on the side of the DOS machine. After all, what it's about is to just transfer data files (text, pics) occasionally from one side to the other. Which would imply to unload the connecting prog on the DOS box then afterwards. (Ok, with that one it's just 11 seconds to reboot and get rid of it; but anyway.)
The DR-DOS "filelink" is just perfect for this type of thing. That is, between two DOS boxes. (Laplink, or in Win$ the Intersrv/Interlnk thing seem similar.) Question of KISS (keep it small and simple) What's not needed in this case is "full nettworking". // Heimo Claasen // <hammer at revobild dot net> // Brussels 2001-12-26 The WebPlace of ReRead - and much to read ==> http://www.revobild.net To unsubscribe from SURVPC send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe SURVPC in the body of the message.
