I've never had to rename the win.ini file (although
that probably wouldn't hurt anything.

If your Windows Explorer [ View | Folder Options ]
is set to "Hide file extensions for known file types"
and/or "Do not show hidden files" you may not be able
to see the files.

In Windows Explorer [ View | Folder Options ] menu,
uncheck the "Hide file extensions ..." option and
click "Show all files" and you should be able to see
*everything* when you do a Find.
