surf simtel/garbo for 'trak0.zip or some such. I think it steps the head in so that only that drive with that dos fd config.sys driver can read/write.
The 1.44 FD are so cheap that it might be worth it to loosen the motor set screws on the end, and turn counter clockwise maybe 1/12 of a circle to step the head in beyond the damaged outside track.
