It's been a couple years since I looked into it. but data-light.com or some such is still around, they make a dos os for embedded systems. so it will definately work with PCMICIA as well as off standard drives.
If you want, I might could attach an archive in a personal email to you. IIRC, its abourt 1.44meg. They have another item too, EXPLORER or some such, that I was not able to get running, but havent had time to fool with it. But WINLITE launched from the dos prompt, and gave you a very windoz looking gui. It did not claim to mult-task, but said it would run win31 apps. But I think you havta figure out what .dll or .ini stuff it would need for any given win app. I aint familiar w/ win enough to even guess. I think it would run off drdos or any dos. It was free for the download, but you hadda fill out their registration which got me some spam from them for a while. The actual dos, ROM-DOS only needed 27k for command.com, and might be really nice for SURVPCs with limited ram and smaller drives.
