Hiya Gang!
OK, since there are few Win9X users on the list, me being one of them and often
questioned
about this...here goes! Wizard57M's EZ method anyway! There are others too.

Open Explorer...the regular one, not IE...any folder, it doesn't matter.
In the Menu bar at the top, click View...a drop down menu appears, click Options
This will open a small pick list screen, at the very top of which is a check box
to "Show all files..."...click on this checkbox to mark it, then click "OK"...now
you're
all set. For even more control, make sure the second box dealing with
hidden and system files has the option to hide system files in NOT CHECKED.
I go further and tell Windows to display full MS DOS paths of files in both right
and left panes. I have NO HIDDEN files from my view...by golly, if I want to edit
MSDOS.SYS, I want to edit it! Hehe.

If you need more help, just let me know. FWIW, I have found Win95 A (aka OSR1)
to be very stable for my hardware, very SurvPC class...a 486DX4 100mHz CPU, 24
meg RAM, 2.1 gb HD, 4x CD ROM drive, Reveal sound card (SB compatible though)
and a 33.6 kbps modem. For years I've heard people complain about Win95, guess
I'm lucky...the only time I get BSODs are when I, being myself, do something really
stupid, usually on purpose, sometimes when I'm trying out some of the apps I used
to try to write myself. I get better resource management with Win95 than my sister can
get with Win98SE...I don't know why, but suspect it has something to do with taking
full
control of WHAT apps run at startup. At startup, I will have 99% of my GDI resources,
97% User, and 97% System...that includes running NAV, a spelling checker, MS Agent/
Scheduler. If anyone running Win9X only gets in the 80 percantiles on these at
startup,
you really do need to find out what is running...and eliminate those you seldom use.
Try
Startup Cop for one, TWEAKUI or XSetup 2 also help. Other tools to control your system
include replacements for the Task Manager...I did one for Win3X which will run in 9X,
though
it doesn't always find "32bit" apps...but Advanced Task Manager or Process Ender are
a couple of excellent tools. If you would like to try any of these apps out, let me
know, I'll
send 'em by private email as attachments...TaskWiz+ is available from my SurfBest
download page also!
