I am working on the setup of a small home network. One Pentium II, one
486 and one XT. On the Pentium I am running DrDos and SuSe Linux. DrDos
to get my email and do a lot of other nice things, Linux in order to
learn a modern system and in the mean time to get my email out (Since
half a year I can't use my favorite Nettamer anymore to send my email,
after my ISP made some strange changes, with Linux I have alocal ISP
).Nice to get some work done, have my good feelings. ;-)
The 486 running Basiclinux on half of the 1 Meg harddisk to play with a
real barebone (nah not so barebone) linux system to learn the basics,
on the other half for rescue operations and because it still makes fun
DrDos 7.03.
My XT is setup with Nettamer for my wife who cannot stand that somebody
(me) changes anything in her setup. No change of colors, no change of
her editor nothing. Now I want to get her email out via my Pentium
because in order to have her send her email's she has to dial in long
distance.
I have put an ethernet card in the XT and in each of the other
machines. Basiclinux and Suse can (sorry I broke something ;-()could
talk to each other but I cannot figure out how to get my wife's XT on
the net. What kind of program should I run. It should run on a batch
file to let my wife send her email to/ via the Pentium.
The cards are connected with a thin coax and the ends are secured with
a 75 ohm cap.
Could somebody help me on my way?
