I didn't mention it in my last message, but web servers have been written for Palm (and Psion I think) that allow browsing the "server" (handheld) connected via a PPP serial link. I actually tried it, and it worked, but only for reading data from the device. Still, reading data in this way, then creating a suitable installable data file (.pdb on Palm) might be a viable alternative. Another would be to further develop the suite on the handheld (web-based form submission?), but they tend to be low-resource as well. That WOULD have the advantage of allowing ANY desktop with basic IP network connectivity to be used with the device.
