A few thoughts:
1. Can you see it at all in network neighborhood, or just not access it? If
it's visible, but not reachable, permissions might be a problem if so. Any
possible difference between the two configurations? Do required users exist
(i.e. pcguest account in smb.conf exists as Mandrake user)?

2. Is there anything "different" about the missing 3rd share compared to the
other two? Are they home directories or something like that?

3. When you the missing one lets you access the entire system, do you mean
you're sharing root ("/")? There may be a change in either Samba, or the
Mandrake configuration of Samba to disallow "dangerous" activity.

I'd want to take a peek at your smb.conf to understand a bit more about how
you've set it all up. Try running 'testparm' and see what it says (assuming
it'll work under Mandrake as it does under Debian). It shows settings even
if they're default, and sometimes helps find such problems.

I take it that copy didn't help. I'm inclined to suspect a user account or
group exists on your 8.0 config that doesn't under 8.1. You might also try
(if you didn't already) re-creating the Samba password entries from scratch
using smbpasswd, especially if it's an access (as opposed to visibility)
problem.

I assume you mean locally on your LAN? If so, just create a "public" share
entry in smb.conf and point your MP3 software at that location. You probably
want it r/w for all users ... at least I did so my kids could update as
necessary.

I hope I'm on the right track here. Give a few more details, and maybe the
relevant portions of your smb.conf and I'll try to be more helpful. We're
bordering on off-topic here, so feel free to just e-mail it directly.
