Hi Samuel,

About "COMMO, version 7.6" of April 23 and "okay one more time?"
(from the `DOS-Discuss' Mail-List) of April 21:

JD> So far as I know commo 7.7 was the last version of the program.
SH> I have a distribution of COMMO, ver 7.7, unregistered shareware...
...
SH> Somebody on this list asked where you could download COMMO.
SH> The latest version is thought to be 7.7.

I had seen mentions about `{Commo}' in a thread which i believe was
started about a week ago and i was tempted to intervein but i'm sorry to
admit that the nature of that thread prevented me to do so... I suppose
that the reciprocal would be true regarding the many posts where i tried
to raise interrest around `{Commo}' - i admit willingly that my messages
are long, it's possible none of what i put it them ever got noticed. :(

     I wrote this recently, on April 19: "`LSPPP v0.764', `LSICQ v1.8x'
and contributions' to TechW0rm and Heimo Claasen, right here, and wrote:

HC> ...why not contribute a little and voluntarily to the testing...
MS> I _did_ want to contribute and i did prove that i was more than
MS> willing! ...my signature... ...it is now on top of my dialing
MS> directory, that's the 1st thing `{Commo}' will connect to.

That signature of mine refers to what i call a "GlueWare" page, the
`{Commo} v7.7' executable is the engine and i created an external dialer
macro around of it for use with `EPPPD'/`LSPPP'. Given the details i've
included about the added funtionality i believed the GlueWare just might
prove handy to anybody who's got interrest in `{Commo}', or maybe not...

My GlueWare concept is so that it doesn't infringe author rights by
FORCING the user to DownLoad the original archives. I tried to give ALL
THE NECESSARY INFORMATION to show how to reproduce the steps i went thru
but i never tried to make the English versus French content symetric due
to a lack of interrest (which confirms here as well). All the necessary
information is out there, even if i don't put it all in English an ~URL~
will remain valid/recognizable with French text surrounding it. My last
check told me that there was at least 1 link alive to the v7.7 archive i
use in my GlueWare but i got a hint that's not enough. Here's one more:

I saw that you've made some effort yourself to gather usefull links
together in order to save some search time to others, i believe we're in
a good position to understand how it may sound pointless and frustrating
for both of us. Like fire fighters facing raging destruction, i witness
the decline of DOS and you probably feel about the same. I happen to be
a fan of `{Commo} v7.7', you seem like you're one too so i join my voice
to yours when it comes to promote its use!!! ;-) It's been a long time
since i saw any post from the author in the `[EMAIL PROTECTED]'
Mail-List but i bet he'll show up if a person sends him a request asking
about the current cost of registering! >;-) I suggested that he let go
the source-code, a while ago, but i was already too late: he wrote that
it's been lost but he also replied that he'd honour new registrations if
someone wants to, he wishes `{Commo}' to be usefull to the blind people:
when asked about the removal of the hidden key-file/nag-screen mechanism
in 1998 he commented that yes, it was a sort of LEGACY, especially meant
for the users with sight problems... Those who'd ask about registration
may want to mention their sight-related handicap in the request!... P->

Tell me, i saw that there are v2.8.5 source-code packages out there
but i couldn't find a compiled binary archive anywhere, is it available?

UnZip `LSPPPDlr.ZIP' at the root of C: using
"-d" (for directories) and then type "Commo"

P.S.: Then you'll type "PKUnZip -n commo77.zip from the `PPP' directory
and add your packet-driver, `VMANSI.COM' from `VMix285.ZIP', etc.
I can be joined via the `contact' link, ask for my later GlueWare
files where ~POP3~/~SMTP~/~NNTP~ support was recently added, etc.
