That sounds like physical damage to the printer; if disconnecting the power and leaving it for a while, then doing whatever self-tests and calibrations the manual gives for installation doesn't sort it, my guess is the paper feed's gone wonky somehow.
Another possibility would be a CR/LF mismatch, although that usually will only happen if you change a setting on the printer manually (here, the printer might be expecting a CR-LF pair for EOL, but the computer is sending naked CRs).
