Hi Joe, > Well, I don't use the "/M" switch, but offer the following suggestions : > - Try enclosing the modem string in double quotes (eg. /M:"....") Thanks! Double quotes did it! AFAIK, double quotes are not mentioned in lsppp.doc. > - Why are you writing to the modem's non-volatile memory? It's just one initialization string that I remember from an old modem that I use some times to try. But you're right. I should try with a simple string as AT&F. > - Is your modem rejecting your initialization string? Eg. does it really > have a non-volatile settings bank #2? Maybe it only has #0 and #1, maybe > even just #0 (the default bank). I tried some other initialization strings not supposed to write anything to the modem. They didn't work either. But now that you mention that, the modem I'm using now has only banks 0 and 1. > - Note that sometimes the "AT&F" and "AT&W" modem commands involve a lot > of internal processing by the modem, so that it doesn't respond "OK" for > one or more seconds - maybe LSPPP isn't waiting long enough to see the > modem's response? > - BTW, I presume you are using LSPPP's internal dialler? In that case I only write the initialization string in Netdial.scr. > - Do you have a time machine? <G> Yes...I can go back and forth in time...but only in my mind for the time being...I'll let you know when I do it physically...hehehe...
