I suppose so.  A BIOS problem that started happening
recenly.  A BIOS problem that effects DOS but not Linux.

Yes, we have tried different cables.  Although it is
hard to imagine a cable fault that would effect DOS but
not Linux.

It seems to me that the problem may lie in the way DOS
sees the HD.  I believe that Linux determines the HD
parameters directly from the HD.  How precisesly does
DOS determine them?
