Procmail works quite well for this (unix/linux). It's a bit quirky to learn, but the scoring feature is ideal for this sort of thing. You can score based on occurences of words or phrases that typically accompany a good old fashioned SurvPC rant (i.e. poster's address, level of quotation, select words) and set a threshold for "rantiness". After a bit of tweaking, most reasoned messages should make it through, while others can be redirected or deleted outright. Lest we grouched at for being off-topic, I'll leave it at that.
