BL2-alpha is coming along nicely. The libraries seem to
be OK now (had to make one addition today). Networking is
going well (including a new dhcp client). Dial-up PPP is
working (pppd 2.3 seems to be much faster than the 2.2 in
BL1). links-0.93 is happy, both online and off. Everything
is running very smoothly at the moment.

The only major job remaining is mail. The glibc2 version
of fetchmail is significantly larger than the version in
BL1, so I'm going to experiment with a smaller client that
does both POP and SMTP. If it doesn't go smoothly, I could
be working on it for a week or more. Then a few days for
some stress-testing and trimming and she'll be ready to go.

BL2-alpha will be complete, except for the built-in
install-to-HD routine (that will probably go in BL2-beta).
The alpha version will not be available to the general
public, but I will post the URL here for anybody who would
like to try it.

Cheers,
Steven
