I discovered the Linux counterpart to Kmeleon (the lean and mean version
of Mozilla for Win). It's called Phoenix. It's a pretty substantial
download nonetheless - almost 9MB! It's claimed to run much faster than
Mozilla, and is stripped of the extras like the mail client, IRC client
and so forth. I decided to test it out on my non-survpc to start with, and
I'll give further reports on that if pertinent. At the beginning, I'll
just append to this email the contents of the dir created when one unzips
the .tar.gz download file (which contains the binary). Here it is:
~/Phoenix/phoenix$ ls
/chrome libmozjs.so libssl3.so regxpcom
/components libmozz.so libxlibrgb.so /res
/defaults libnspr4.so libxpcom.so run-mozilla.sh
/icons libnss3.so libxpistub.so /searchplugins
libgkgfx.so libnssckbi.so mozilla-xremote-client timebombgen
libgtkembedmoz.so libplc4.so phoenix xpicleanup
libgtksuperwin.so libplds4.so phoenix-bin
libgtkxtbin.so libsmime3.so /plugins
libjsj.so libsoftokn3.so regchrome
Here's the ldd output: ldd phoenix-bin

something further later anyway.
