I don't see it as an 'either - or' issue.

I currently have machines running DOS, Windows (3.1 for workgroups),
95, 98se, NT (workstation and server), OS/2, Linux Red Hat 7, and
FreeBSD 4.8.

Each has something about it that I like... and programs that won't run
on the other OS's.

DOS is nice on a personal computer, but I don't know if I would want
to try using it on a server, on a workstation that had multiple
processors.
